Time of Flight Diffraction (TOFD)

Time of Flight Diffraction (TOFD)

Time of Flight Diffraction (TOFD) is a nondestructive testing (NDT) method of inspecting materials for flaws using soundwaves to detect cracks in welds. TOFD utilizes the principle that the tips of a crack when struck by a soundwave will diffract the signals back to the other location on the surface.
During the classroom training students will learn the requirements to become Qualified & Certified to perform Time of Flight Diffraction (TOFD). The course covers aspects of TOFD inspection such as basic principles, equipment, test techniques, and more. Classroom and practical application ensure that all students complete the course with the complete understanding of TOFD Testing.
Time of Flight Diffraction (TOFD) course allows students who wish to obtain the required 40 hours of classroom training in accordance with SNT-TC-1A and CP-189. The curriculum encompasses the body of knowledge outlined in CP-105 in addition to hands on training.
