Pipeline Integrity: Field Services

In trench anomaly inspection

  • Our specialty is comparing and contrasting the “As-Called” anomalies with the  “As-Found” conditions, and prescribing a repair in accordance with the operators written practice.

  • While our specialty is long-seam analysis, we have extensive experience with ID & OD Corrosion, Dents, mechanical damage, SCC, lamination's, mill defects and most other anomalies.  We’ve performed thousands of assessments in all operating environments.

  • We constantly review emerging technologies to make sure we are providing the most appropriate techniques, not the latest.

  • We offer many other pipeline data services; such as soil pH, pipe to soil potential, soil resistivity, sub-foot & sub-meter GPS, coating inspection, MIC test and hardness testing

Pipeline rehab NDE is different from Pipeline NDE

  • Typical NDE informs an operator whether or not a repair is required. Effective rehab NDE is equally concerned with correlating the As-found condition to the tool called condition. Uncalled Relevant items, or tool misses, are of equal concern. Though these conditions may not affect repair requirements, they are critical to an effective ILI program. Detailed reporting is important in all NDE, but more critical for Rehab work. A rehab report will be part of a continuing process, not just a single job.

  • NDE results may be used on future tool correlations. The report shows not only what was done, it should represent how an operator is adhering to their program. If there’s a problem, a good NDE report will allow a forensic review of the pipe condition.

  • If it’s not documented, it didn’t happen.  Reports and mistakes are all that survives back-fill. For consistency, we train our technicians in a standardized inspection process. This Process is divided into distinct “phases”. Each Phase ends in a series of photos. The photos emphasis the sequence of events in the ditch. We use distinct colors and symbols to help distinguish the phase of inspection.

Operational Reliability & Risk Assessment

  • Risk Assessment: NDT;s pipeline risk assessment methodology integrates production information, pipeline connectivity, corrosion monitoring and chemical inhibition, to provide near real-time, automated risk assessment information, used to determine risk ranking and recommended monitoring and mitigation programs.

  • Integrity Review: This in-depth assessment incorporates the results of all inspections and monitoring activities that are performed on a pipeline system. It then provides the owner with the most complete picture of the current condition of the pipeline system and recommendations for continued reliability.

In-Line Inspection (ILI) Support

  • ILI Selection & Implementation: NDT has the expertise to support you with the selection of the best ILI tool to be used for your pipeline. Our team can also support you with running the ILI tool, from planning to field execution.

  • Data Assessment: Analyzes ILI data using deterministic and probabilistic models and supports the dig inspection program by selecting the minimum number of digs required, determining the accuracy of the ILI run, and performing the anomaly evaluation.

  • Inspection: We have a full team that focuses on Integrity Digs and field inspection that can support your ILI digs.
